Topic: Cultural text (football)
Source: Me and my group of friends watching the game at one of our houses.
Relation: Cultural texts are a way to analyze a culture based off an item or event.
Description: On the day of the superbowl me and my group of friends all went over to one of our houses to watch the game. We all brought stuff to eat like chips, hamburgers, and hotdogs. In order to watch the game we had to plug a laptop up to the T.V. because none of us had cable to watch the game. what i realized as we were watching the game that this was the only football game that I have watched all year and the same was true for all my friends.
Commentary: Even though none of my friends or me had watched any football we all for some reason watched the Superbowl. I think the main reason why we watched the game was just for the commercials. I also believe that we also had it engrained in us to watch the game since we were young because i remember always watching the game with my family when i was a kid.
Haha, me and my boyfriend do the same thing! We only observe Superbowl because we get to make snacks and watch the commercials; we don't watch another game all year. We even went through the trouble of watching it online, too. It's funny how engrained Superbowl Sunday is in American culture, even amongst people who aren't football fans.
